2009-2010 Popular Music Project Artist-in-Residence Courtney Holt kicked off his tenure with an innovative workshop among USC students from the Annenberg School, Cinematic Arts and the Thornton School of Music. After a brief tour of his many Zelig-like incarnations in the music industry, he engaged students in a wide-ranging conversation about the new economic realities of the business as well as how the multiple ways they acquire music themselves opens up entreprenurial opportunities. And that, indeed, is the focus of the workshop: to explore what type of digital/social media delivery system these students would design for themselves and their music-loving peers.
